Maranta leuconeura var. erythroneura
Maranta leuconeura var. erythroneura, commonly known as a red prayer plant, is an ornamental tropical plant native to the rainforests of Brasil. The Maranta gets its nickname from its behavior. Prayer plants display nyctinasty, meaning their leaves move in accordance with their circadian rhythm. The foliage of this houseplant opens towards the sun throughout the day to maximize light intake and returns to an upright position at night to retain moisture and prevent water collection on leaves, reminiscent of hands in prayer. Though this indoor plant should not be forgotten, it is a relatively easy species to care for and is a great option for those who love Calathea and their behaviors but are not ready to tackle the trickier cousin of the Maranta. They grow best where they get medium to bright, indirect light. Being the tropical plants that they are, Maranta should be watered regularly so that the soil is always at least slightly moist but never dry. Both too frequent and infrequent watering will result in burnt leaves and an unhappy live plant.
The Petite Adobe highlights the beauty of the hand-crafted aesthetic through its imperfect surface and sand-textured surface. Designed in three neutral colors, Petite Adobe will fit well into an area with limited space.
